University of Medicine and Pharmacy Carol Davila is an academic institution responsible for formation and training of physicians in medical specialties and physiokinetotherapy (580 yearly graduates), dentistry (215 yearly graduates) and pharmacists (195 yearly graduates). A priority in the strategy for education and scientific research is the development and use of resources, tools and methods of information-based medicine (MBI) – centered on the ability to integrate patient-specific information and targeted treatments in the best solution for its health care. MBI is promoted in UMF as a future direction, innovative, allowing health providers to develop best practices, to integrate technology in any field of medicine and provide the most comprehensive individualized health care. At the same time advanced information technologies that reduce storage costs are progressively integrated medical and pharmacy university, allowing access to a growing number of biological databases; high performance computing infrastructure, digitization technologies available and service-oriented architectures (SOA) in education exemplifies the possibilities of digitization of patient clinical data.
Thus, the ImunoGenetics and Virusology Center Fundeni, together with the Department of Urological Surgery and Kidney Transplant Fundeni and the Department of General Surgery from St. Pantelimon Hospital achive the management of kidney transplanted pacients and of those who need general surgery.
